`This, then, is how you should pray “Our Father in heaven…”‘ (Matt 6:9)
This prayer begins where all true prayers start, with the spirit of adoption: Our Father.
But then the childlike soul begins to understand the grandeur of the Father and ascends into heartfelt adoration
There is only a small step from adoring worship to a glowing missionary spirit: Your kingdom come, Your will be done
Next follows an expression of dependence on God: Give us this day
As you are illuminated by the Spirit, you realize you are sinful, so you beg for mercy: Forgive us
Then knowing you are accepted by God, you ask for strength.
Finally, a result of all this, there is triumphant praise: for Yours is the … glory forever”
Amen!
Spurgeon
